Jumpstart Grants

Interested in starting an Odyssey of the Mind program? Your first year is on us! Apply for a Jumpstart Grant today at paodyssey.com/get-started.

You’re eligible for a grant if you’re a new membership or an existing membership that has not had a team compete in the past five years.

These donor-funded grants cover the registration and tournament fees, and a stipend for supplies. The average grant is worth over $400.

If you have any questions, please contact Ryan at pr@paodyssey.com.

Teams must be registered by Jan. 8.

Judge Registration

Our regional tournament is run and officiated completely by volunteers. To make this possible, each team must provide judges as listed below. Judges must attend training and the regional tournament.

Judges can be anyone over the age of 18 – parents, teachers, friends, family, former OMERs… anyone who isn’t coaching.

  • 1 long term judge per team
  • 1 spontaneous judge for every two teams (e.g. 1 or 2 teams need 1 spontaneous judge, 3 or 4 teams need 2, etc.)
  • 1 extra long term judge per every 10 teams

Judges must register by Jan. 8. Per state guidelines, teams that fail to provide a judge may be penalized up to 25 points on competition day. For this year’s deadlines, see the schedules page.

Volunteer Registration

Each team must also provide one volunteer, who does not need any training and only needs to be available for a couple hours the day of the tournament. Volunteers help with watching doors during performances, selling merchandise, and other logistical tasks.
