The Karl R. Schneck, Jr. Memorial Scholarship (Gordo’s Gift)
We are pleased to announce that this year’s recipients of the Karl R. Schneck Jr. Memorial Scholarship (Gordo’s Gift) are Carolyn Armstrong from Abington Heights High School and Michele Buccine from Delaware Valley High School. Each student will receive a $500 award.
Both young women have been long time participants in the Odyssey of the Mind program in Northeast PA, both come highly recommended for their creativity, initiative, and service to others, and both sent exceptional scholarship submissions.
Carolyn will be attending Brigham Young University next year, majoring in art, and Michelle will be attending Kutztown University, majoring in education. We wish them well on their new Odysseys.
This scholarship is presented by NEPA Odyssey of the Mind to two senior candidates from the 10-county NEPA region whose solutions to the scholarship Problem were judged to be the most creative by the NEPA Board of Directors Scholarship Committee.
Karl Schneck dedicated himself to the Odyssey of the Mind program. As a coach, regional codirector, state problem captain, and world finals official, he embodied the spirit of creativity and positive attitude that drives Odyssey of the Mind. This scholarship is designed to allow students to demonstrate those talents, abilities and most of all, the CREATIVITY that Odyssey of the Mind values and cultivates in its participants.
Creative Opportunities Unlimited Scholarship
Creative Opportunities Unlimited (COU) presents several $500 scholarships each year to students who have demonstrated exemplary creative problem-solving skills, good sportsmanship, perseverance, and teamwork. Creative Opportunities Unlimited is an international non-profit organization whose entire mission is to support members and teams participating in the Odyssey of the Mind School Program. Of the 29 scholarships awarded to students across the United States, one has been awarded this year to a Delaware Valley High School student, Jeffrey Benson.
