Gordo’s Gift

Karl Schneck was an amazing person who dedicated himself to the Odyssey of the Mind program. He believed in combining creativity and teamwork to solve problems. No one loved crazy, wild, and outrageous solutions more than Karl. He served Odyssey of the Mind for decades in many roles including as an NEPA co-regional director, PA state problem captain, and World Finals official.


2024 Karl Schneck Scholarship Application

NEPA Odyssey of the Mind presents the Karl R. Schneck, Jr. Scholarship each year to a graduating high school senior. The scholarship is in memory of our past regional co-director and state problem captain. Applicants must solve a problem and submit a letter of recommendation.

Mr. Schneck dedicated himself to the Odyssey of the Mind program. A former coach, regional co-director, state problem captain, and world finals official, Mr. Schneck embodied the spirit of creativity and positive attitude that kindles Odyssey of the Mind.

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Mr. Schneck passed away on September 15, 2006. As teams around the world continue their odysseys, remember Mr. Schneck’s selfless commitment to the program, and think outside the box while solving your problems in OotM and your day-to-day life in honor of the life of an esteemed inspiration to thousands of people.
